Napoli wanted midfielder for a ‘long time’

Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli has revealed that they have wanted Spurs midfielder Tanguy Ndombele for a ‘long time’.

The midfielder is on a season-long loan now with the Serie A side, despite still having a few years left on his contract with his parent club.

Giuntoli has said, as per reporter Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.

Tottenham have received a boost ahead of their clash against Marseille.

A change of ruling by UEFA now means that Welsh and Irish players now count as homegrown.

As per the Evening Standard, this now means the club can most notably include Ben Davies in this criteria and not have to leave out any key foreign individuals.

New boy comments on life so far

Barcelona loan man Clement Lenglet has said he is ‘very happy’ with his start to life at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

He made his full debut in their last match against Fulham.

The France international has told the official club website: “I’m very happy because it’s a new challenge for me, a new competition, a new team, new stadium - everything was new,” said the 27-year-old.

“I’m very happy to start and to win with my team-mates.”
