Spurs fans staged a protest during the team's match against Luton Town at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (March 30).

Many supporters turned their backs on the game on the 65th minute in opposition to the club's announcement that it was dropping concessions for over-65s on season tickets from 2025/26.

While concessions for senior citizens for matchday tickets will remain available, supporter groups have criticised the announcement of a new ticketing charter earlier this month.

Next season, 2024/25, season ticket prices will rise by 6%, meaning adult season tickets will cost between £856 and £2,367.

Saturday's protest was organised by Save Our Seniors, with flyers handed out before the game saying: "We are Save our Seniors, a group of Spurs fans who want the club to reverse its decision to cut and then withdraw concessionary pricing for fans over 65.

"The club does not need the money this change would raise. It already generates £4.8m every match day.

"This is a choice to penalise some of our most loyal fans. It is morally wrong. And it shames the proud traditions of our club. We aim to organise visual and effective action to get the THFC board to restore concessionary pricing for seniors. That is our focus, our one and only focus."

Tottenham Hotspur said in a statement earlier this month that football "is not immune to the rising costs of goods and services across the board and we continue to look at all options to minimise ticket price increases, while absorbing the vast majority of costs".

"The number of senior concession season tickets has risen to four times the number at White Hart Lane – not taking matchday concessions into account.

"This increase is clearly not sustainable and will start to limit ticket choice for others year on year," said the club.

"We have, therefore, reluctantly taken the decision not to make new senior concession season tickets available, starting from season 2025/26 – however, matchday senior concession tickets will remain available."
