Tottenham Hotspur could be hatching plans for a double summer transfer swoop already.

Tottenham Hotspur have already held talks with the representatives of Lille duo Jonathan David and Angel Gomes ahead of a potential summer 2025 transfer in a proactive move that could give the London outfit chance of beating Manchester United to the soon-to-be free agents.

That's according to TBR Football, who report that 'talks with representatives have taken place' as the two players' contracts both come to an end following this season. The duo have supposedly been told by Lille that contract extensions are not in the offing and that they should look to find a new club.

Manchester United and Arsenal are also said to be interested in recruiting both players on a free transfer with Chelsea and Newcastle United particularly keen on David. Manchester City and Liverpool have been more linked with Gomes.

The latter made his England debut under Lee Carsley back in September and impressed on the international stage. The 24-year-old has had a few injury problems at Lille this season but continues to be regarded as an exciting midfield prospect, having graduated from the Manchester United youth academy.

Lee Carsley heaps praise on Angel Gomes

Speaking about the player in September, Carsley said:  "He absolutely loves football. He watches football, he's interested in tactics, he knows all the players in any league.

"If you ask him for any feedback you need to be prepared that he is going to give you some feedback on the session or how we're going to build up, or the positions.

"He'll help in terms of he will often say about some build-ups that he's done at other clubs or what he's played against, because obviously he's playing in France so he sees different things. He fully deserves it (his call-up)."

Gomes has been at Lille since 2020 and is valued at £20 million by Transfermarkt. David is the same age as his teammate but if valued at a lofty £37 million.

The striker has already plundered 17 goals in all competitions for Lille this season and has 59 caps for the Canada international team. David came through the ranks at Gent before joining Lille in 2020.
