Tottenham could hijack £52m deal for 'huge talent' after transfer stalls

Tottenham could get the opportunity to pull off a deal for a ‘huge’ attacking talent.

Tottenham could be offered the chance to sign a France international this summer as they look to add an alternative option to Dominic Solanke this summer. Spurs are still yet to do the bulk of their summer transfer business, with Thomas Frank currently needing plenty of reinforcements ahead of the new season.

Spurs have signed Mohammed Kudus, and they are very keen to sign Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest, but there is a legal battle holding up that particular deal.

Elsewhere, Tottenham have more business to attend to, and it looks likely they will try to sign a striker before the end of the summer transfer window, with Richarlison’s future very much up in the air at this point. There has been talk of interest from his home country, Brazil, while Frank may want to move on from Richarlison due to his injury history.

Solanke is likely to be Frank’s preferred starting striker, but he will also be keen to have an alternative option, which would likely be a pacier striker. One possible option is Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani, who is being tipped to move on from Paris this summer.

According to Graeme Bailey, Spurs could be an option. “Kolo Muani’s move to Juventus has stalled," Bailey told The Boot Room. "They want him back, but they want a loan with an option. PSG are not keen, and they believe there are other clubs willing to take him on better terms. Kolo Muani has enjoyed life in Turin, but we are told that he remains keen on England – he was very close to joining Tottenham in January.

"Spurs are one of those contacted again, but so have the likes of Manchester United and Newcastle, both of whom are obviously in the market for new forwards. He is suddenly a name who is possibly back on the market, and he is intriguing to these Premier League clubs. He is still seen as a huge talent.”

Muani is 26 years of age, and he joined PSG in 2023 after an impressive spell with Eintracht Frankfurt. At Paris, the striker has scored eight goals in 36 league appearances, while he scored eight goals in 16 games while on loan with Juventus for the second half of last season. He is also a 31-time France international, scoring nine international goals at senior level to date.

Reports have suggested that PSG will ask for around £52million to sell Muani, and while Juventus have already made headway in the deal, it seems there is a window to strike. With doubts over Heung-min Son’s future, Tottenham might be wise to sign a striker like Muani, who could also feature in other attacking roles.

There may also be some room to negotiate, given PSG have made it clear they don’t want Muani for next season. Much will depend on Juventus and whether they can find a way to pull off the deal.
