Tottenham and Crystal Palace offered £20m 'perfectionist' amid Porro and Borna Sosa exit rumours

Spurs have been offered the chance to sign a Ligue 1 full-back in a potentially key position in January.

Tottenham Hotspur had reportedly been offered the chance to sign AS Monaco full-back Vanderson in January amid claims that Real Madrid could be interested in first team stalwart Pedro Porro.

The Spaniard has featured in every Premier League match under Thomas Frank this term but has also been critical of the club’s supporters during hard times. TeamTALK cite reports from Madrid Universal claiming that Los Blancos are ‘weighing up’ a swoop for Porro.

It’s believed that the Spaniard could be viewed as competition for Trent Alexander-Arnold. The former Liverpool man has been managing a hamstring injury with Carvajal not having played since October having undergone a knee operation.

Real Madrid linked with Pedro Porro transfer

Should Porro make the move to Spain, then it appears as if Spurs could easily recruit Vanderson. TEAMtalk cites sources that claim that the 24-year-old has been offered to Spurs, as well as Everton this window.

The Brazilian is said to have almost moved to the Premier League in 2022 with Brentford interested, but Vanderson was instead persuaded to move to the Ligue 1 outfit from Gremio. Monaco pad £10 million for the defender and the club are now reported to be looking for at least £20 million to sell him this month.

Vanderson is a right-back, just like Porro, and also has the attacking attributes to play in right midfield. Crystal Palace are also named as potential suitors amid reports that Borna Sosa could leave Selhurst Park, despite having only joined in the summer.

Tottenham offered ‘perfectionist’ full-back

Across his 137 Monaco appearances, the player has scored eight goals and picked up 16 assists. Spurs had also been linked with the player back in the summer.

Former Monaco boss Philippe Clement spoke about Vanderson’s talent and application back in 2022. He said: “Vanderson has been less consistent recently, but he is still a young player. He had an exceptional adaptation here [last season]. We have already spoken about that. He is also a player who is and continues to interest lots of big clubs. That can possibly do something to the mindset, not that he didn’t have his feet on the ground, but Vanderson is very ambitious and a huge perfectionist.

“Every day he wants to be better than the last. That can give him a lot of pressure, lots of stress with all of the ambition that he has. We need to manage that more for him. If I left him to it, he would train for 18 hours a day. He is like that. Sometimes we need physical and mental breaks and he is a young player that needs to manage that. He will do it, because he has such a positive frame of mind.”
