Tottenham are still in the market for a midfielder who can play as a NO 10 and also out wide, but have now lost out on Barcelona’s Ansu Fati who has decided to head to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Surprisingly Fati has been in discussions with Spurs all day on Wednesday but talks overnight with Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi has turned his head and left Spurs looking at other options.

The Lilyhwites had also been strongly linked with Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest but a lack of breakthrough has now seen interest cooled. The Independent say Spurs could make a late swoop for Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze.

The Crystal Palace star enjoyed a great season under Roy Hodgson last time out where he he bagged 10 goals and four assists. He’s had a good start to the current season and has been attracting interest from Premier League rivals including Liverpool and even Manchester United with just 48 hours to the end of the transfer window.

Tottenham have had a great start to the league season winning two and drawing one of their first three games even though they suffered a blow in the Carabao Cup where they lost to Fulham on Tuesdya night.

Manager Ange Postecoglou has made a case to be backed and Spurs who sold Harry Kane are yet to fully spend the cash they got from Bayern.

They are however likely to bring in some new faces to add to the likes of James Maddison, Manor Solomon and Guglielmo Vicario who all joined in the summer.

The next 48 hours will be crucial with Eberechi Eze having just two years left on his current contract and telling close friends he’s open to a move.
