Tottenham should consider proven Champions League attacker who is available for just £45m

Tottenham should be considering signing a player available for £45million this summer.

Tottenham need to get hold of a new forward before the end of the transfer window, which will be on Monday night. Spurs lost Heung-min Son this summer, and while they signed Mohammed Kudus earlier in the window, they need more options at the top end of the pitch.

Spurs could do with a winger and someone to compete with Dominic Solanke, but if Richarlison stays as expected, they may only need a winger.

The ideal signing could be a player who can play in both positions, given Richarlison’s recent injury history. At this stage of the window, options are running out, but there is one option that remains firmly on the table. Atalanta star Ademola Lookman is pushing for an exit, and the Serie A club are willing to let him go should the right price be met.

CaughtOffside say Atalanta want £45million to agree a sale, with Fulham having reportedly come up just short with heir recent bid. A number of clubs around Europe are said to be monitoring Lookman in the final days of the window, and while Spurs are not mentioned, they should be keeping an eye.

Lookman has Premier League and Champions League experience. He scored 15 times and provided five assists in Serie A last season, also managing five goals and two assists in seven Champions League appearances, averaging a goal contribution per game in the UEFA’s toughest competition.

Tottenham need proven players who can step into the team and deliver from day one, and there aren’t many who can offer that at £45million, particularly with the market going the way it’s going. If Spurs can meet that asking price, they can make the signing with little fuss given the forward wants to leave and Ataanta are willing to sell him under the right conditions. Lookman is also reportedly in London and waiting for a move.

Lookman situation analysed

One Italian pundit believes Lookman has been badly advised as he pushes for a transfer and stays away from his current club. Alfredo Pedullà told The Italian Football Podcast: “Atalanta pay his salary, they make bank transfers to him, they pay him a lot of money. So I ask myself and I ask you: why is he in London? Why is he convinced that someone will come along and liberate him?”

“They gave Lookman bad advice. The advice that Lookman has received isn’t good at all. It is a situation that I don’t like, a situation that doesn’t look good for anyone.”
