Tottenham Hotspur, like the rest of the clubs in the Premier League, are gearing up for a busy January transfer window following the 2022 World Cup. Who will Spurs look to bring on board?

Two World Cup stars are reportedly in Tottenham’s crosshairs. One of them has been described as a “bargain”, but the north London club are said to be facing competition for his signature.

According to report, Spurs are also chasing a Croatian superstar, who has been praised by former player Luka Modric. Despite this, they will face a battle to sign him, as Chelsea are also reportedly in the hunt.

As well as this, it’s been said that Tottenham are hopeful they can sign a Spanish right-back from Sporting CP. Using a clause from an earlier sale, Spurs could bring him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for a smaller fee than they would have orginally been required to pay.

Spurs hoping to sign French World Cup star in a “bargain” deal

Adrien Rabiot was a mainstay for France at the World Cup, featuring in six of their seven games in the tournament. As such, he’s caught the eye of several big clubs - moreover, he could be available for a price as low as £13.5 million, according to The Times.

The report suggests Spurs are interested in signing the 27-year-old, but they aren’t the only north London club in the mix - Arsenal have also be monitoring the French midfielder, according to reports. However, right now, Spurs appear to be the frontrunners in the race.

Another player who Spurs are fighting a fellow London club to sign is Dominik Livakovic, according to HITC. Former Spurs favourite Modric has heaped praise on the Croatian shot-stopper, but he’s also a target for Chelsea in the upcoming transfer window.

Livakovic was one of the outstanding goalkeepers at the World Cup, saving no less than four penalties during Croatia’s campaign in Qatar. With a reported price tag of £9 million, he could provide excellent backup - or even competition - for the ageing Hugo Lloris.

Spanish right back could sign for Spurs in cut-price deal

Tottenham are believed to keen on the idea of signing Pedro Porro in January, who currently plays for Sporting CP, say HITC. Thanks to a 50% sell on fee clause in Marcus Edwards’ contract, who signed for Sporting earlier in the year, Spurs could sign Porro for a cut price.

The clause in question would need to be waived for this to happen. Unfortunately, Tottenham are not the only Premier League club thought to want to sign the 23-year-old.

Manchester City have a buy-back clause with the player, amounting to around £17.5 million. It’s unknown whether City will activate this clause - but, if they do, it could scupper any potential moves for the Spaniard elsewhere.
