Tottenham can go one better than last summer to land a top-level centre-back this summer.
Antonio Conte and Fabio Paritici have enjoyed a fine summer transfer window so far, snapping up six signings so far.

But the transfer business may not end there, with Spurs looking to build a squad ready for the Champions League.
Exits will likely be required, but Spurs could also need to strengthen key areas, and centre-back could well be the biggest priority as the new season draws closer.
It remains to be seen who Spurs could turn to, but they have the perfect opportunity to land Villarreal star Pau Torres this summer.

Torres decided to stay to represent his hometown club in the Champions League, and it was a wise decision, with the Spaniard helping the Yellow Submarine to a semi-final appearance.
Villarreal were the surprise package in reaching the penultimate stage, following up their Europa League title win by coming close to a Champions League final, giving Liverpool a scare with a second leg comeback.
Ahead of this summer, Villarreal have been pretty clear that they will allow Torres to leave for a fair fee out of respect for what he has done for the club.

Manchester United were tipped to make a move, but the Red Devils have decided to snap up Ajax star Lisandro Martinez instead.

Chelsea have turned to Kalidou Koulibaly and don’t appear to be prioritising Torres as they chase another centre-back.
Real Madrid quickly snapped up Antonio Rudiger, and that left Juventus.

That leaves an open door to Tottenham to make a move for Torres, who is widely regarded as one of the best centre-backs in Spain.
The left-footed defender has a release clause of around £51million, and if Tottenham do push for a move, they will be hoping they can go one better in convincing Torres this summer.
