Tottenham player rating vs Aston Villa: ‘outstanding’ 9/10, plenty 7s but one 4/10 in terrific win

The player ratings from Tottenham’s 4-1 Premier League win against Villa in North London.

Tottenham fought their way back from a goal down to win 4-1 against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday evening. Villa were looking to win three straight games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first time this decade, and they seemed to be on their way when Morgan Rogers put them ahead. However, Brennan Johnson equalised early in the second half, and Dominic Solanke scored twice to seal the win before James Maddison added the fourth.

Below is how we rated the Tottenham players:

Guilem Vicario - 6 Produced a brilliant save from an Onana header in the first half. His distribution was solid too.

Destiny Udogie - 5 Not his best game. Won his fair share of battles, but Spurs need more from him going forward.

Pedro Porro - 5 A strange game for the often electric Porro. Didn’t have much to do defensively but also lacked impact going forward. Needs to find his best form again.

Radu Dragusin - 7 Strong and solid both in the air and on the ground.

Dejan Kulusevski - 7 The Swede has been Tottenham’s live wire this season; when he plays well, the team often does too, and that was evident in the second half. He’ll be pleased with his assist for Solanke.

Rodrigo Bentancur - 4 Had a decent first half where he was first to every loose ball, but his performance declined afterward. Concerning.

Pape Sarr - 6 Used his energy and anticipation effectively and had his own battle with Onana. Grew into the game.

Brennan Johnson - 7 Brilliant goal to get Tottenham back on track early in the second half.

Son Heung-min - 6 The Spurs captain was just returning from injury and didn’t look very sharp, but as has often been the case, he provided an assist at a crucial moment when his team needed him.

Dominic Solanke - 9 There’s still a feeling that he’s working his way back to being a Tottenham player, but that second half will do him a world of good. Outstanding finish for his first goal, and the second was also very good.

Richarlison - 5 Brought a lot of energy to the game, as always, and provided an assist too. Hopefully his injury is not too bad.

Bissouma - 5 Helped Tottenham win most of the midfield battles during his time on the pitch.

James Maddison-6

Beautiful goal to add the cherry on the cake. Another player who needed that.
