Tottenham reach full agreement as medical is booked for defender to seal move- sources

Sergio Reguilon is going out for his third loan spell since joining Tottenham in 2020 from Real Madrid.

Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon will sign for Brentford today with his medical scheduled for this afternoon, LondonWorld can confirm. The Spanish defender spent the first half of the season at Manchester United but is now seeing out the rest of the campaign at the Gtech Community Stadium.

United signed Reguilon in August following injuries to the club's left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia and despite making 12 appearances for the club both the club and player agreed to terminate his deal and he's returned to north London.

LondonWorld has been told the deal at Brentford will be similar to the one he signed at Old Trafford, a straight-forward six-month deal with no obligation to buy and the player will return to the club in the summer to be evaluated by Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian manager has made it clear that 27-year-old Reguilon was not part of his plans this season and named only eight substitutes in their 2-2 draw at Old Trafford with Italian full-back Destiny Udogie nailed on first-choice left-back and the versatile Ben Davies as his able assistant.

Why Brentford works out well for Sergio Reguilon

Brentford boss Thomas Frank is known to want an experienced left-back for the remainder of the campaign and Reguilon offers the wide attacking option he is looking for.

The Bees have lost Rico Henry to a serious knee injury and Aaron Hickey is also out after suffering a significant hamstring in November so there will be minutes for Reguilon to build up his confidence and form in the next couple of months.

Spurs are determined to cash in on him in the summer with his contract set to expire in 2025 and they stand a better chance of getting a significant fee for him when he's on form and playing in the Premier League.

Reguilon said his goodbye to his mates at Hotpsur Way on Tuesday and is not expected back at the club till the summer.
