Tottenham could be offered the chance to offload one of their big earners this summer.

Tottenham could offload one of their big-earning stars this summer as they consider making significant changes to their squad. It has been a dire campaign for Spurs, who are stuck in the bottom half and unlikely to qualify for Europe next season, needing to win the Europa League to achieve that feat.

Ange Postecoglou is walking the line heading into the final stages of the season, fighting to keep his job after failing to fix the issues presented this season, albeit he has been very unlucky with injuries along the way.

Tottenham have a big decision to make about their manager this summer, and whether Postecoglou stays or not, there are some big decisions to be made over the playing staff. Significant recruitment is required, with more depth needed across the squad, while more high quality players will also be needed if Spurs are to properly compete for European qualification.

But incomings never come without outgoings, and we are likely to see a handful of departures from Tottenham this summer. Timo Werner will be the first to go, with the German very likely to be sent back to parent club RB Leipzig after a disappointing season, and that’s despite the fact the North London side have an option to make the deal permanent at a pre-agreed fee.

Others will likely follow, and there is plenty of speculation around Cristian Romero amid links with Real Madrid, while forward Richarlison is also being tipped to move on. As far as the Brazilian is concerned, Tottenham may feel as though the time is right to pull the plug, with the forward having struggled for fitness this season, making only 14 appearances across all competitions.

According to Goal in Brazil, Richarlison is likely to move on this summer, and Spurs are said to be ‘willing to listen’ to offers. It’s claimed his home country clubs Palmeiras, Fluminense and Flamengo are all expressing an interest with that in mind, though Richarlison is said to prefer to remain in Europa at this stage in his career, still only 27 years of age.

Tottenham paid £50million for Richarlison, and they have him under contract until 2027, but with his value dropping, this may be the right time to sell if they don’t think the Brazilian is going to make a significant impact next season.

Postecoglou on Richarlison’s form

Postecoglou has all-but admitted that Richarlison has struggled with confidence when he has been fit this season. The Spurs boss said recently: "He’s got so much to give and that can help ease the burden he’s feeling in other parts of his life, like so many of us.

"I’m really pleased for him – I thought he did really well. We were obviously chasing a goal and getting some balls in the box and he’s always a threat in the air."

The Brazilian is still struggling with injury, but he could be set to return in the next couple of weeks. Postecoglou added this week: “Richy’s training with the group, again, it's about when we reintroduce him to the matchday squad, but he's training with the main training group, which is positive.”
