Thomas Frank confirms Tottenham injury blow ahead of Nottingham Forest, Liverpool and Crystal Palace games

Tottenham have been handed an injury boost ahead of a key run of fixtures.

Tottenham could be without a key player for an important run of games, with Thomas Frank confirming the blow after his side’s win over Brentford on Saturday. Frank got the better of his old team, with Spurs pulling off a convincing and deserved 2-0 win.

Richarlison put Spurs ahead, and Xavi Simons put together a brilliant solo run from his own half to slot home the goal that proved the killer blow for the hard-working Bees.

Spurs are ninth in the Premier League, even after the win, but it’s particularly congested in the top half, and they are just three points off Chelsea in fourth place, with the Blues drawing on Saturday.

After a Champions League date with Slavia Praha, Tottenham then face Nottingham Forest, Liverpool and Crystal Palace in the Premier League, and the latter two of those games see them go against teams in close proximity to them in the league.

Ahead of those games, Tottenham have been handed an injury blow in Destiny Udogie, who has picked up another issue. Frank confirmed: “He got a soft tissue injury, unfortunately, against Newcastle." Asked how long the full-back will be out, Frank added: “Not too long, not too long."

Udogie has already missed eight games this season with a knee issue, while he missed 13 games with hamstring issues last season.

Thankfully for Spurs, Djed Spence is a more than competent alternative, and his performances mean Udogie is not a guaranteed starter by any means at this stage.

Frank on Brentford win

Frank believed his side ‘clicked’ against Brentford after a difficult run of results, albeit the late goal at Newcastle seemed to provide a confidence boost. He said: “Yeah, I think so. Sometimes you work hard on things and sometimes it just suddenly clicks. As I said before, the team has been a little bit out of sync in some stages.

“Today, a lot more players were on the same page at the same time throughout the game. I think we looked such a threat going forward, created chances, played with pace, tempo, penetration, unpredictable. I like that, it's everything we like to be, but also being aggressive in the pressure and we still have that clean sheet mentality, we gave four shots away, which is very good against a Brentford team that is very difficult to handle when they play behind with their directness and their set-pieces so, overall, just a complete performance, I would say."
