Tottenham Hotspur star James Maddison has proved himself quite the joker once again by dropping a brilliant one-liner while appearing on Sky show A League of Their Own.

The England international is set to appear on the hit series this evening and the broadcasters have shared a sneak peak ahead of the episode airing. In the clip, Maddison chats with A League of Their Own host Romesh Ranganathan about his short summer break between moving from relegated Leicester City to Ange Postecoglou's Spurs.

Responding to Romesh's question, Maddison explained: "Didn't get too many holidays actually after international duty and then I came back and me and my partner had twins."

The news led to cheers from the panel and ex Manchester City and Aston Villa defender Micah Richards shouting, "Go on, Jay!". A smirking Maddison replied, "Well she had the twins". A cheeky Ranganathan then quipped: "But you made an effort a while ago!"

To a chorus of giggles, Maddison joked back: "That was about the last time as well, I think."

Instagram users reacting to the clip commented that 'Madders got bants' and that the star picked up 'two more assists' for his banter. Others ribbed Ranganathan, a big Arsenal fan, for fraternising with their North London enemies and labelling Maddison a 'legend' in his post. One wrote: "The legend yeah? Do the season ticket holders who sit next to you feel alright about the language you’re using Rom?"

Maddison and his partner Kennedy Alexa welcomed their first child in July 2021 before twins Delilah and Rome on July 2 this year. The couple regularly share adorable snaps of the youngsters on their social media channels.

In another preview for this evening's episode of A League of Their Own, the Spurs playmaker shared his love for the Harry Potter series and even unveiled his Potter-inspired tattoos such as the main character's scar.
