Ryan Mason hints Tottenham injury blow ahead of Manchester United clash

Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris is racing against time to be fit for the game against Manchester United after picking up an injury in the 6-1 defeat to Newcastle United over the weekend.

Tottenham's chaotic season campaign has seen Cristian Stellini, who was appointed to see out the campaign booted out for Mason after the defeat to Eddie Howe’s side.

Spurs have dropped to sixth on the league table after in-form Aston Villa side beat Fulham and will now have to respond against a United team who have qualified for the final of the FA Cup, and looking to cement their hold on the third spot in the league.

Injuries haven't helped with influential midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur ruled out of the season, summer signing Yves Bissouma battling an ankle injury that has kept him out for the last six weeks and Brazilian defender Emerson Royal working his way back from a knee injury.

Mason who is looking to at least install a winning mentality and end the season on a high confirmed captain Hugo Lloris will have to be assessed before a decision is made with Fraser Forster ready to step in.

Mason told reporters in his first press conference after taking over Cristian Stellini: “With Hugo, we are still unsure about him and we have a review and only after that can we be sure about. Same with Clement and Ben who have been out for a while so we will see after the training.”

Manchester United also have their own injury concerns with defender Raphael Varane ruled out and midfielder Bruno Bruno Fernandes also a doubt having picked up an injury in the Brighton win.
