Tottenham midfielder Lucas Moura says the Tottenham dressing room is dejected after the defeat to Brighton but have been advised to move on from it and focus on the next game.

The Lillywhites lost at home to a Leandro Trossard late goal in what is a blow to their top four aspirations with Arsenal taking on Southampton later on in search of three points.

Spurs had looked superb coming into the game, winning their last four games, scoring 14 goals and conceding only two in return.

But all that counted for nothing as Brighton dominated and created most of the dangerous chances in the game.

The Seagulls are specialists in scoring late goals against London clubs having scored late against Brentford, Crystal Palace and now Tottenham which indicates how strong they finish games.

Could be costly error

With Arsenal seeking a win against Southampton this defeat could come back to hurt Antonio Conte’s men who started the game very slowly and even though they improved in the second half, they were just not good enough on the day.

Both Harry Kane and Son Heung-min who always come up with the goals were well off and truly shackled.

All is still not lost though with the all important North London derby schedule for May 12 is now likely to decide who plays Wednesday or Thursday night football.

Asked how the players reacted to the defeat, Brazilian forward Lucas Moura said everyone in that dressing room was gutted because they are far better than they gave on the day.

The Tottenham man said : “ Everyone in that dressing room was disappointed because we played very good games against Aston Villa and Newcastle and then we came home knowing very well that this game was very important.

“We are all upset and it’s going to be a very hard weekend but that is football and in the Premier League we can not drop our intensity and concentration and we did it today and we lost.”

Spurs will now hope to return to winning ways when they take on Brentford next week before games against Leicester and Liverpool come up quickly.
