Tottenham Hotspur have beaten Catalan giants Barcelona to the signing of Swedish wonderkid Lucas Bergvall in the dying moments of Deadline Day.

News of the signing was broken on Sky Sports with less than an hour left of the January transfer market with a medical scheduled to take place in London on Friday. Spurs are completing the bureaucracy around the transfer to tie the player down, but the move will only be processed when the summer window opens.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano also confirmed the news online and said: "Lucas Bergvall to Tottenham, here we go! Medical will take place on Friday."

Ange Postecoglou's side fought off 'stiff competition' from Barcelona to add the cherry on top of an impressive January transfer window cake which has seen Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin arrive as marquee signings at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The rising star currently plays for Djurgarden in Sweden and has previously trialled with Manchester United. His recent emergence is said to have turned the heads of clubs across Europe
