Throughout his reign as Spurs boss Antonio Conte has asked for signings, and by the of January he could call on Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski.

The duo, signed from Italian giants Juventus, have both impressed and may yet help Tottenham into a European placing come the end of the season.

But if Tottenham are to keep hold of Conte and really challenge for honours next season - and end that 14-year wait for a major trophy - then the Italian will be expecting more investment this coming summer.

No matter what level of competition they are involved in, Spurs will be looking for several additions to join in the next window to convince Harry Kane to remain in N17 and to help achieve more consistency on the pitch.

If Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici can get it right in the coming months then we could see Conte take the Lilywhites to the competitive levels last seen under Mauricio Pochettino.

Here are five under-the-radar suggestions that could help push the north London outfit on, and would also keep with the club’s existing transfer strategy, to recruit young players with sell-on value.

The Ecuadorian defender is one of two Bayer Leverkusen players on our list, and able to slot in to the left-sided centre-back role Hincapie would offer strong competition to Ben Davies for a starting position in Conte’s team.

The left-footed Hincapie is excellent in aerial duels and reads the game well.

Should previous transfer target Pau Torres not be attainable this summer, then the standout Die Werkself defender would be well worth looking at.

The Bundesliga is the league to go for if you’re looking for a centre-back, especially the left-footed variety.

While Josko Gvardiol of RB Leipzig may prove too tough to capture from the Champions League outfit this summer, Spurs could have a run at Freiburg gem Nico Schlotterbeck.

The 6ft3’ German is certainly set for bigger things and Bayern Munich are reportedly interested.

But if a move to South Germany does not work out, with plenty of defenders on the books of the German giants already, then Conte and co should be right at the front of the queue for the Black Forest club’s defensive talent who has helped push the modest Bundesliga outfit into Champions League contention.

Right wing-back: Djed Spence, 21

While Tariq Lamptey and Tino Livramento would be expensive, Spence should be more attainable if Boro are not promoted from the Championship.

And Jarrod Bowen and Jack Grealish have shown that there is plenty of talent in the EFL, if clubs are able to look beyond the top tier.

Right wing-back: Jeremie Frimpong, 21

The former Manchester City youth player has excelled since a January 2021 transfer from Celtic to Bayer Leverkusen.

Frimpong is sadly injured for the rest of the season after he picked up an ankle ligament injury against Cologne, with surgery needed.

But that has not stopped an excellent year of development for the former Bhoys Young Player of the Year, who is being tracked by some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Striker: Mohamed Bayo, 23

Tottenham seem to look for a Harry Kane stand-in every season without success.

While Spurs supporters wait to see of homegrown talents Dane Scarlett or Troy Parrott can make the step up, a value-driven recruit in the meantime could be the Clermont Foot forward, who has impressed in Ligue 1 in 2021/22 with 10 goals in 19 starts, despite playing for a team involved in a relegation scrap.

The Guinea national team player is decent in the air, can dribble and boasts a very decent non-penalty goal rate, and could be a very good under-the-radar summer signing.
