Fabrizio Romano issues 'quite confident' update amid Tottenham interest in Ange Postecoglou replacement
Tottenham are still said to be interested in replacing Ange Postecoglou with a Premier League boss this summer.
Tottenham have a huge summer ahead of them as they prepare to make a huge decision. Ange Postecoglou has overseen a disastrous campaign at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with his side 16th in the table, albeit still with a chance of qualifying for the Champions League.

Spurs have reached the Europa League semi-finals, where they will fact Bodo/Glimt, and if they win that competition, they will secure Champions League football for next season.
Though, while they might be confident of progressing to the final, they would face Athletic Club at their home stadium, San Mames, or Manchester United, so they are still some way away from reaching that particular goal.
Spurs have played a lot better in the Europa League than the Premier League, but they are in truly rotten form in the league, losing again on Monday night when they came up short at home to Nottingham Forest.
There is intense pressure on Postecoglou, and even if he does manage to win the Europa League with Tottenham, which is obviously the best-case scenario, Spurs might still have to make a decision to move on, given his failure to fix the issues his team has faced in the league.
There is already plenty of talk of interest from Tottenham in other managers, and links with AFC Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola don’t seem to be going away.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs remain interested, but much will depend on Iraola’s contract talks. Romano told GiveMeSport: “There is a concrete possibility of seeing Tottenham trying to attack the situation. But Bournemouth are talking to Iraola. They are quite confident about keeping him for one more season. So let’s see how the conversations continue. I’m sure also this week there will be a new round of talks between Iraola and Bournemouth, but for sure, they want to keep him.”
When asked recently whether he was having conversations about a new deal, Iraola said: “We'll talk, but nothing special.” In terms of the ‘nothing special’ in that comment, it would seem the Cherries boss meant the discussions won’t get serious until the end of the season, rather than expressing a lack of excitement over a possible new deal.
Asked about the Tottenham links in late March, the Spaniard said: “I want to do my job the best I can. If I don't do the job very well, they will find someone else who does the job and it's like this in every job.
"I'm really happy here. We have a great opportunity to go to semi-finals for the first time in our history and it would be amazing for me personally, and for the club to achieve new heights. But we know that we have to be also realistic, that there are better teams than us and we have to fight against teams that are very good and we will try to give the best level we have."
Iraola penned a two-year deal when he arrived at Bournemouth in 2023, and he has since signed a 12-month extension, meaning he is under contract until the summer of 2026 as things stand.
