Conte will be keen to bring back Spurs winning ways as he aims for a top four finish and spot in the Champions League for 2022-23.

With Spurs due to host the Saints tomorrow (Wednesday 9 February 2022), they are set to be without some of their key playmakers due to injury.

Heung-Min Son, Cristian Romero returned to the pitch following their injuries for the FA fixture on Saturday 5 February as did Conte’s new signings - Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.

With three players set to miss out on Spurs next bid to aim higher in the Premier League, these four are likely to feature heavily in the remaining league matches.

The 22-year-old missed out in Tottenham’s FA cup fixture against Brighton and is unlikely to play tomorrow as he continues to suffer from a knee complaint.

Potential return date: Sunday 13 February 2022

Eric Dier

The England international will continue to miss out on play as he suffers from a thigh injury. The centre-back was due to play against the Saints after missing out on Spurs’ FA Cup fixture but his thigh and groyne complaint continues to develop meaning he will no longer be available for the Premier League fixture.

Speaking to Tottenham’s club website, Antonio Conte said: “Dier had the same problem three weeks ago, played against Chelsea, it’s not a serious problem but you know very well when you have the same injury in the same place you have to be careful. I hope to see him very soon, five days, one week maximum.

During the pre-match press conference, Conte said, regarding Dier: “It’s a little muscular problem in his thigh. It’s not serious, but the problem is in the same place as last time, so, for this reason we have to have a bit of patience and not take any risks.”

Eric Dier will be crucial if Spurs are to hope for a top four finish this season and fans will pray that their centre-back will make a speedy return to the pitch.

Potential return date: Saturday 19 February 2022

Oliver Skipp

Similar to the previous two, Skipp had been expected to return for Spurs’ clash against the Saints after missing out in the FA Cup fixture.

“We need to have a bit of patience with him. Skippy is another player I have seen great improvement from, a young player with a lot of space for improvement. It’s a pity now he’s not available, but I hope very quickly to have him with the squad.”

Potential return date: Saturday 19 February 2022

Tottenham play Southampton at 7.45pm GMT tomorrow, Wednesday 9 February 2022.
