Coventry City vs Tottenham early injury news as 2 ruled out and 3 doubts
A look at the early injury news surrounding Tottenham and Wednesday’s Carabao Cup rivals Coventry City.
Tottenham suffered a narrow defeat to Arsenal in the North London derby on Sunday, but attention now quickly turns to the Carabao Cup. Ange Postecoglou will be disappointed with how his side have started the season, and the cup offers the opportunity not only to get a look at some of the players who would not usually start, but also to build some momentum.

Spurs face Coventry City away from home on Wednesday night, and they will go into the clash as heavy favourites. In the meantime, we have rounded up the early injury news surrounding both teams.
Ben Sheaf - Doubt
Coventry boss Mark Robins has said of Sheaf before the weekend: “He’s on the grass and he’s training so that’s as close as he has been for a good few weeks.” He did not end up featuring and will remain a doubt here.
Tatsuhiro Salamoto - Doubt
Salamoto picked up a concerning looking injury against Norwich but looks to be better than expected. He will remain a doubt here, though, with Robins saying prior to the weekend when Salamoto did not feature in the Sky Blues squad: “Tatsu is the same, on the grass, training. So again, that’s really good news because we have missed the both of those. Tatsu has only missed half a game against Norwich but when they are out, you miss them, and in terms of the training sessions, you want them involved, so it’s a step in the right direction.”
He added: “It was bad enough. He damaged his ankle but it has healed sufficiently for him to be on the grass. We have just got to run the rule over them and see how they do and they will be ready to go when I decide that they are ready to become in a matchday squad. So today I am going to see them again today and make decisions off the back of that. It may be too soon for the pair of them but I have got to look at that today.”
Raphael Borges Rodrigue - Out
Raphael will remain out after he suffered a setback to his injury in late August. Robins said on August 23: “He’s had a setback. His thigh hasn’t settled down, so he is going to be a while. But we have to use this time to make sure he is physically in a good position.“He’s had a setback. His thigh hasn’t settled down, so he is going to be a while. But we have to use this time to make sure he is physically in a good position.
“We always speak about when players come in from wherever they come from, but this one will take time to get him up to speed, and robust to be able to cope with the demands that are going to be placed on him. It’s a shame he hasn’t been able to hit the ground running, because he’s really hungry and he wants to do well, and he has a lot of ability. We work with him to give him understanding of what he’s going to be asked to do and required to do when he steps back on the training ground again.”
Richarlison - Out
Richarlison remains sidelined and will not return until towards the end of this month at the very earliest. Postecoglou said after the Arsenal defeat: “Still a while, mate, yeah. He’s in rehab and we are going to take it a bit conservative with him.”
Yves Bissouma - Doubt
Bissouma is close to returning and it’s unlikely he will be risked here given it is an early round cup tie. Postecoglou said before the Arsenal game: “It's hard to say at the moment, it's a tweak in his groin. The initial reports are it's not serious which means there is a chance for Sunday, which tells me it's nothing significant.
“Tottenham suffer own injury blow ahead of Arsenal derby after star limps off on international duty. If he doesn't make Sunday, then I'll assume he'll be right for after that. At the same time, he's just come off a long flight, you never feel great anyway, we'll see how he trains tomorrow and that will give the best indication.”
