The wait is almost over as Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn face off for the second time - just like their fathers did before them.

Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn face off as Ben Shalom, Founder and CEO of BOXXER, and Eddie Hearn, Chairman of Matchroom Sport, watch on following the 'The Ring: Unfinished Business' launch press conference ahead of their middleweight fight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on September 17, 2025 in London, England. placeholder image

The inter-generational rivalry began back in the 1990s when Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank Sr fought in two world-title contests. Eubank won the first fight by technical knockout in the ninth round at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham.

The second meeting between the pair at Old Trafford in Manchester saw a split decision draw with the judges scoring the fight 115–113 Eubank, 114–113 Benn, and 114–114.

Conor Benn and Eubank Jr finally met back in April after years of waiting with the contest staged at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. All judges scored the fight 116-112 to Eubank Jr. Now they are set to meet again as Benn looks to avoid two losses against the bigger Eubank Jr.

What time does Chris Eubank Jr v Conor Benn start?

The event is expected to get underway at 5pm in North London but the main event is not due to start until around 10pm. Ring-walks for the main event will be from 9.35pm.

35-year-old Eubank Jr is seven years older than Benn and has competed in 38 fights, winning 35 and losing three. Benn had won all 23 of his professional fights with Eubank Jr handing him his first loss.

Who is the favourite?

Eubank Jr is the favourite to win the bout following his performance in the first fight. However, former world champion Tony Bellew is backing Benn to get the job done.

He wrote for BBC Sport: “The rematch is going to be about who wants to go into the fire first. It favours the younger man in Benn. Eubank will not want to revisit that place again. It is a really hard fight and it is not easy at his age.

“Only Eubank's career is on the line. He was the IBO champion. A high-street clothes shop has more valuable belts, but it does not take away what he is.

“Benn has the perfect narrative of everyone knowing it is not his weight class. People think I have something against Eubank, but I admire him.

“He is not like me and 99% of fighters. I have huge admiration for Eubank and Benn because they were kids born into a life of luxury wearing silk pyjamas.

“We have all heard about Eubank's four nights in hospital and his toenails falling off.

“I have been urinating blood for two days after a fight and it was a badge of honour. But when I look back now, I am an idiot. Who wants that? If I was raised me in silk pyjamas I could not have made it as a boxer.”

Who is on the undercard?

Jack Catterall v Ekow Essuman - welterweight

Adam Azim v Kurt Scoby - light-welterweight

Richard Riakporhe v Tommy Welch - heavyweight

Sam Gilley v Ishmael Davis - British and Commonwealth super-welterweight titles

Mikie Tallon v Fezan Shahid - super-flyweight
