Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou says star midfielder James Maddison is back in training and could play a part in their game against Bournemouth today.

The former Leicester City star impressed on his first home debut for the Lilywhites but left the stadium with protective boots after appearing to injure his foot in the 2-0 Manchester United win last weekend.

There had been doubt over whether the former Leicester City man would be involved as Postecoglou’s team look to build on their impressive start to the season.

The Australian manager revealed his star midfielder was back in training and will travel with the team. He told the press ahead of the trip to the South Coast: “Yeah Madders (Maddison) trained today unrestricted. We’ll see how he pulls up but at this stage, it looks like he will be available. We’ll assess how he feels but yeah he trained. “

The Maddison news will delight Spurs fans even though they will still be without Rodrigo Bentancur, Bryan Gil and Ryan Sessegnon remain long-term absentees.

Bournemouth will be seeking consecutive league wins over Spurs for the first time, after their 3-2 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April. The north London club have won one of their past 11 away games in all competitions, drawing three and losing seven.

Brazilian striker Richaslison has been tasked with getting the goals alongside captain Son Heung-min and even though the former Everton striker has played well in the first two games, he’ll be hoping to get off the mark in the league.

Spurs will be looking for their first back-to-back wins of the season.
