Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has had calls to be sacked from fans on social media after their defeat to Ipswich.

Tottenham’s run of wild inconsistency continued last weekend, as they suffered a shock 2-1 home defeat to Ipswich Town. Spurs could have moved up to third in the league table with a win, but it was the visitors who secured all three points to bag their first league victory of the season after securing promotion.

Much like the game against Crystal Palace, where the Eagles recorded their first win of the season against the Lilywhites, it was the same story against the Tractor Boys. The defeat was even more painful, given that this was a home game for Ange Postecoglou's side.

This has been a frustrating time for the team. They threw away a two-goal lead against Brighton to lose just before the last international break. They seemed to bounce back with a victory over Manchester City in the League Cup, and then an impressive come-from-behind win against Aston Villa. Even though they then suffered their first defeat in Europe against Galatasaray, the game against Ipswich was supposed to be straightforward.

One of the issues for Postecoglou is the left-back position. While there's no doubt that Destiny Udogie will be a massive player for the club, he needs competition. Sources have suggested this could open the door for Sergio Reguilón, who has barely had a look-in.

Reguilón's career has been turbulent; he was loaned out to Manchester United last season before finishing the campaign at Brentford. Sources close to the club have indicated that Reguilón, who has been sidelined for much of the time, could now be brought in to help rescue the situation as pressure mounts on the Spurs boss ahead of their game against Manchester City after the international break.

Tottenham signed Reguilón for £27.5 million in 2020, and while he made an immediate impact in his first few months, he lost his way after José Mourinho's departure. Since then, he's rarely featured under the club's revolving managerial changes.
