Tottenham could be handed a fitness boost for their second leg with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Tottenham were held to a draw in their first leg of their Europa League quarter final with Eintracht Frankfurt. The red-hot Hugo Ekitike put the German side ahead, and Pedro Porro levelled with a clever finish to level the two sides heading into the second leg next week.

Ange Postecoglou’s men had chances to win the game, but they were ultimately thwarted, and they now head to Germany level, setting up a fascinating second leg.

Speaking after the game, Postecoglou told TNT Sports: “I can't ask any more lads. It was disappointing to concede the way we did. It was a fair strike to the lad, he's outside the box and he's nailed it. But after that, even before that, I thought we were well in control of the game. We didn't create a lot in the first half but I just thought we were making them work awfully hard which would bear fruit for us in the second half. And it did in every aspect but goals. I couldn't ask any more of the lads though. The performance was first rate."

He added: "If we repeat that performance (in Germany), I definitely think we give ourselves a chance (of reaching the last four)."

Speaking about the first leg and how the second leg might compare, the Australian added: "I had a feeling that they wouldn't be too expansive today. I thought they'd play fairly conservatively. The biggest blow we had was conceding the goal so early because that played into their hands.

"I always felt that we'd finish the game stronger. But we created so many good chances in the second half. We hit the crossbar three times. So on any other night you'd go away with a comfortable victory. I don't expect the second game to be too open either. I think it'll be a cagey affair. It'll come down to moments. I just think if we repeat those moments next week, one of them will drop for us. And we'll get what we need."

Postecoglou was then asked if Dejan Kulusevski could be fit to start in the second leg, he said: “Touch and go [for the second leg]. The idea with Deki and Kevin Danso is they're due to start training with the team tomorrow or early next week. I don't think they're a possibility to start. But I think Kulusevski's got a chance to be involved."

Glenn Hoddle’s verdict

Speaking on TNT Sport, Hoddle said of Tottenham’s performance: “Spurs have got to be brave and have to be better than they have been away from home so far. But what they have got at the moment is their best team and good bench options as well.

“They've got experience and their better players, so I'm expecting them to go there and have a real good chance. It's very much still in the balance. It’s disappointing because they (Spurs) played so well in the second half. They penned Frankfurt in, hit the bar and the goalkeeper Santos has had an absolute stormer. He’s made some wonderful saves. It’s going to be a tough task to go over to Frankfurt now."
