Ange Postecoglou rules out two players from Arsenal game in latest blow to Tottenham

Tottenham have had two weeks to prepare for the game against Arsenal but have massive injury concerns.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou explained what happened to Italian defender Destiny Udogie and revealed midfielder Oliver Skipp will also miss the game against Arsenal due injury he picked up in training this week.

Spurs still hope to catch Aston Villa and secure Champions League football for next season, but they face an Arsenal side who have their own Premier League title ambitions. Gunners manager Mikel Arteta confirmed his team did not have any new injury concerns ahead of the potential season-defining game.

But Postecoglou who explained what happened to Udogie who has had to take surgery, also confirmed midfielder Skipp picked up a knock and would not be available for selection.

He told reporters: “Yeah, from the last game, a disappointing one for Destiny and for ourselves as well, because he’s been a big part of our year. It was just an unfortunate incident in training.

“He’s had the operation, it’s gone well - so hopefully it gives him time to have pre-season and get back into it. So we’ll miss him. Skippy picked up a small knock as well in training so he’ll be out for this weekend. So they’re the outs apart from the long-term ones. Pedro and Richy both trained all week so they’ll both be available.”

Tottenham looking to spoil Arsenal’s party

This weekend could be season-defining for both clubs with Arsenal having little to no room for error if they are to beat Manchester City and win the Premier League for the first time in 20 years.

For Spurs, they want Champions League football under manager Postecoglou who started the season with eight wins and two draws in the first 10 games before the wheels came off. Both still have all to play for the season and could have their season defined by the outcome of this game.

Spurs have scored in 25 successive Premier League home matches - it's their third-longest run in the division, following sequences of 29 games in 2012 and 2017.
