Tottenham midfielder James Maddison is in line to face Liverpool on Saturday evening despite initial concerns that he might have picked up an injury during the 2-2 draw against Arsenal last weekend.

According to a report in the Times, the midfielder is back in training and will be fit enough to play against Jurgen Klopp’s in-form side as they look to put their unbeaten start to the Premier League season to the test.

Maddison has been magical since switching from Leicester to Seven Sisters as Ange Postecoglou looks to return the club to the summit of Premier League football.

They have won four and drawn two of their opening six games in the league and Maddison has four assists and two goals in his first six games with Postecoglou always happy to underline the transformative effect he’s had on the team.

The Spurs boss recently told TNT Sports: “In terms of the way we want to play and the football team we want to be, we have to have creative players who can do things through their own imagination and their own ability.

“So much of football today is structured that having circuit-breakers in there [is important]. Sometimes that’s people with capabilities whether that’s speed or power, or it can be people like Madders [Maddison] who maybe see things that others don’t.

“For me having players like that in your team can make you an effective attacking force.”

Liverpool are also unbeaten and come into the game after coming from behind to beat Leicester City in the League as their strong start to the campaign continued in the Cup game.
