Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton agree that Tottenham will not win at Leeds United as 'far from ideal' claim made

Pundits have been predicting Tottenham’s away clash with Leeds United on Saturday.

Tottenham are back in action in the Premier League’s early Saturday game, facing Leeds United away at Elland Road. Spurs started very well under Thomas Frank, but they have had something of a reality check in the last couple of weeks.

Fran’s men have one win in their last four games across all competitions, drawing their last two Premier League outings, while they also drew with Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League during the week.

The positive is that Tottenham are not losing these games as they might have been last season, and Frank has made no bones about the fact it’s going to take time to become a consistent force as the team continues to adapt to this style.

But if they do have ambitions of competing for a Champions League spot, wins are required, and their next trip takes them to Leeds, who have enjoyed a solid start to the season, most recently holding Bournemouth to a draw.

Daniel Farke’s men have adjusted well to the Premier League, and BBC Sport’s Chris Sutton believes they will grab a draw at home to Spurs in what will surely be a very good atmosphere at Elland Road.

“Fair play to Leeds, they have really surprised and impressed me so far,” said Sutton. “There is a good balance to their team because they carry a threat and can dig in too. Apart from a heavy defeat at Arsenal, they have been competitive in every game so far and their good start would have been even better but for late goals against Fulham and Bournemouth.

“Even so, they have got more points than I expected at this stage and Daniel Farke deserves a lot of credit. I think there were question marks over whether he could manage at this level because of his Premier League record with Norwich but, as I've said before, he never really had the squad there to be able to compete.

“Tottenham have had a difficult week, having to fight back to rescue draws against Wolves and Bodo/Glimt, and this is going to be another tricky game for them. I can actually see it ending in another draw for Spurs. At least they played in the Arctic Circle on Tuesday night rather than Wednesday but a lunchtime kick-off on Saturday is still far from ideal, and this Champions League campaign is going to stretch their squad. Prediction: 1-1.”

Interestingly, Alan Shearer has also predicted a draw in his Metro predictions. he reasoned: “With Leeds playing at home and Tottenham being away in the Champions League during the week, it won’t be an easy game. I’ll go for a draw.”
