QPR head coach Marti Cifuentes hailed an 'almost perfect' performance from his side against Leeds United as the Rs completed 'the great escape' by confirming their place in the Championship next season.

The hosts put four goals past the promotion-chasing visitors with Daniel Farke's men stunned from the off when Ilias Chair hit the back of the net with just eight minutes on the clock. Lucas Andersen, Lyndon Dykes and Sam Field all also found themselves on the scoresheet as Loftus Road breathed a jubilant sigh of relief at full-time.

The result allowed QPR to control their future and avoid dependency on other results going their way this weekend and in the final round of fixtures next week.

Speaking to Sky Sports at full time, shortly before completing a lap of honour with his team, Cifuentes said: "It's been a fantastic evening. We worked really hard to get this performance and result. I'm happy for all the players and the fans and the club. It was a difficult task and we managed to get the great escape.

"We've shown resilience all the way through difficult moment [this season]. We showed togetherness and confidence we could make it. We were in a huge task together and I'm very happy."

The boss refused to take credit for his team's survival in the second tier, hailing the players and staff at the club for their role.

He added: "I said that I came here because I was very convinced about the potential, this team has been showing we can get the results. It's about enjoying tonight and everyone going home happy."
