QPR v Millwall with 3 outs and 1 doubt as both sides get big injury boosts

Julien Stephan and Alex Neil have returning players to pick from as the London clubs meet at Loftus Road this weekend.

Millwall will make the short trip across the capital to take on QPR at Loftus Road this weekend, looking to put a stop to the hosts’ six match unbeaten run.

Julien Stephan has managed a remarkable turnaround since that 7-1 thrashing at the hands of Coventry City. Meanwhile, Millwall go into the clash buoyed by a 3-0 win over West Brom last time out.

At this early stage of the season, just two places and one point separate sixth-place QPR and eighth-place Millwall in the Championship. Here’s your team news.

QPR team news

QPR head into the weekend off the back of hugely positive injury news shared by the club. Julien Stephan will have an almost fully fit squad to choose from against Millwall.

Kwame Poku and Ilias Chair both returned to full training this week and are available for selection. Poku was one of QPR’s marquee summer signings, arriving from Peterborough United for a reported £900,000. The 24-year-old was in high demand having plundered 12 goals and eight assists in League One last season.

Poku started the opening fixture of the Championship season against Preston North End but lasted just 67 minutes and has not been seen since. Meanwhile, Chair has been absent ever since the second outing of the campaign, against Watford.

Jake Clarke-Salter has also been in full training this week and is expected to make the matchday squad against the Lions. It had been feared that the defender worsened an injury when taken off for the Development Squad against Swansea City at the end of September, but that is not the case.

Rhys Norrington-Davies was an absentee against Bristol City last time out, having picked up a knock against Oxford United, but is now fit again. Joe Walsh continues his rehab from a wrist fracture and Ziyad Larkeche is a long-term absentee with an ACL injury - both will miss out.

Outs - Joe Walsh, Ziyad Larkeche.

Millwall team news

Millwall have also had their fair share of injury boosts thanks to the two-week break from Championship action. Alfie Doughty, Daniel Kelly, Danny McNamara and Casper De Norre are all back in full first team training.

It’s welcome news for the Lions, who had been playing through somewhat of an injury crisis in the opening weeks of the campaign. Asked for the latest on injuries, Millwall boss Alex Neil told NewsAtDen: “I think most of the lads will be fit and available. I think as far as squads go at this moment in time, I don’t see why not.”

Doughty, who signed for Millwall from Luton Town this summer, appears the biggest doubt of those coming back from injury with Neil saying he ‘could’ be in the squad. Goalkeeper Lukas Jensen remains the only long-term injury.

Doubts - Alfie Doughty. Outs - Lukas Jensen.
