QPR legend and ex Birmingham City star available on free transfer after release
Rotherham United have confirmed their release list ahead of a return to League One with a famous QPR name let go.
QPR legend and former Birmingham City star Grant Hall is available on a free transfer this summer after being released by Rotherham United as the club prepares for a return to League One.

The Millers endured a torrid Championship campaign this season, mustering just 27 points with five wins, returning to the third division two years after achieving promotion in 2022. Rotherham United have already appointed former Stevenage manager Steve Evans to replace Leam Richardson as they look to bounce straight back to the Championship.
As part of those preparations, on Tuesday the outfit confirmed its release list for the summer and one player in particular will stand out to QPR supporters. Grant Hall is out of contract and is not to be offered a new deal for next season.
The defender made just eight Championship appearances this season, having joined Rotherham United on a one-year deal following a loan stay from Middlesbrough during the 2022/23 campaign. Hall has struggled with a hip injury and was absent between mid-December to mid-April before returning for the final three matches of the term.
Explaining the club's release approach, Evans said: “There have been some honest and open discussions with players in and out of contract and we have had to make some really difficult decisions, but each one of those has been made with the future of Rotherham United at the forefront of our priorities.
“I’d like to place on record that everyone in the building has been a pleasure to work with since I walked through the door and those departing the club do so with our very best wishes. It is clear that this summer is an important one in terms of recruitment but we are already well underway with the process and excited about the challenge that lies ahead."
As well as making over 100 appearances for QPR between 2015 and 2020, Hall was named as the Supporters' Player of the Year in 2016. The defender came through the Brighton academy and was also on the books at Tottenham Hotspur between 2012 and 2015, but never made a first-team appearance for Spurs.

On leaving QPR in 2020, Hall said: Hall said: “It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to leave the club after five years. It was a very difficult decision but I had to do what I felt was right for my family at this stage of my career.
“It was an absolute honour to captain the team this season and I thank the manager for having that faith and trust in me. I wish all the lads nothing but the best for the remainder of the season and beyond.
“I would like to thank everyone involved within the club for everything they have done for me during my time there - I will miss each and every one of you!
“Last, but not least, a huge thank you to all you R’s fans who I have had a great connection with since my very first season at the club. You all welcomed me with open arms. I wish QPR nothing but success for the future. This club will always hold a special place in my heart. Thanks for the memories.”
