QPR are considering a move for Blackburn Rovers star Arnor Sigurdsson this summer as the hunt for a winger continues, the need for attacking options highlighted in the 3-1 Championship defeat to West Brom at the weekend.

That's according to transfer specialist Alan Nixon, who claims that the London outfit are weighing up a move for the 25-year-old. The R's would face competition from PAOK with the Greek outfit also believed to be courting Sigurdsson.

QPR have enjoyed a busy summer in the transfer market so far but are yet to find a replacement for Chris Willock, who departed Loftus Road as a free agent. The player, who made 39 second tier appearances last term, has since signed for Cardiff City.

There have been several names linked with a QPR transfer in that position. Crystal Palace youngster Jerusun Rak-Sakyi is one man tipped for a stay in the Championship, but Leeds United and Sheffield United look more intent on pulling off that coup.

Meanwhile, Stade Brestois man and former Blackpool loanee Karamoko Dembele is another linked with a move to Loftus Road. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano had even suggested the player was completing a medical over the weekend.

Sigurdsson could bring Championship experience to Marti Cifuentes' side, having moved to Blackburn Rovers last summer. That was on an initial loan deal, which became permanent in the winter, so it is thought that Rovers would only sanction a loan exit for the player so soon afterwards.

When signing permanently at Ewood Park, Rovers’ Director of Football Gregg Broughton said: “We are really happy to make Arnor Sigurdsson a permanent signing at Blackburn Rovers and to have the next 18 months working with him. Arnor has displayed the technical quality that is central to his performance and he is now a vital part of our squad.”

The winger was an unused substitute for Blackburn Rovers in the side's first match of the season, a 4-2 victory over newly promoted Derby County. Sigurdsson, who has found playing time harder to come by under John Eustace and struggled with an ankle injury towards the end of last season, picked up seven goals and four assists in all competitions last term.

Cifuentes turned to Paul Smyth to start in the right wing berth left vacant by Willock against West Brom. Smyth had his moments but the R's struggled for dominance going forwards with a lack of firepower on the bench too.
