QPR face transfer 'problem' over Premier League star as Leeds United deal doubted and Aston Villa 'match offer'

Preparations for next season are already well underway at Championship clubs, and Millwall and Queens Park Rangers are no exceptions. Clubs up and down the second tier have returned for their respective pre-seasons, and work will be stepping up this week with many teams in pre-season action.

QPR are already off to a strong start in the summer transfer window, wrapping up a number of early deals, while Millwall will be expected to bring in a number of new signings as Neil Harris looks to put his own stamp on his squad. Hayden blow

QPR have been linked with a move for Newcastle United star Isaac Hayden this summer as they look to bolster their defence. But according to The Northern Echo, the Hoops will not be able to meet his current wages and that could present a problem.

Hayden spent time on loan with the R’s last season, and they are said to be keen to sign him permanently, but Hayden is going to have to take a wage cut to complete the move, and it’s unclear whether he will be wiling to do that. With the door open, it will be interesting to see if other Championship clubs begin to circle.

Kamara deal doubted

Leeds United star Glen Kamara is being linked with a move to Rennes after just one year at Elland Road, but former White Paul Robinson can’t see a deal going through. Robinson told MOT Leeds News: “I was very surprised – it was a transfer that I wasn’t aware of. It’s really come out of the blue, having only just come to the club [from Rangers]. The club have been a long-time admirer of him and I thought he did really well last season.

“Now Archie Gray is gone, and the financial situation is maybe not as bad as first thought, I would be surprised if the deal was sanctioned. I suspect Daniel Farke will not want to lose him from the squad. We don’t know what’s gone on behind the scenes, whether the player has an issue and has said he wants to leave. If the manager agrees and feels he can do without Kamara, then the money can be used elsewhere. But he’s only just arrived so I would be very surprised to see a deal go through.”

Philogene twist

Hull City star Jaden Philogene looks very likely to move on this summer amid reported interest from some of the European heavyweights, as well as the Premier League. But the winger’s future has taken a fresh twist after Ipswich Town bid £18million.

Aston Villa held a clause in their sale deal to Hull that would allow them to match any offer before a deal is completed, and they have triggered that option to potentially take Philogene back to Villa Park, as detailed by the Express and Star. The winger could now be set for Champions League football if a deal does go through.
