QPR brace for Millwall and Birmingham City transfer raid over 'club-record deal'

QPR are bracing for bids from Millwall and Birmingham City ahead of the close of the summer transfer window with striker Lyndon Dykes a target for the clubs.
The future of the Scotland international at Loftus Road has remained a mystery this summer. The 28-year-old still has another two years left on his current deal but had been linked with Blackburn Rovers and Celtic earlier this summer.

That's according to The Mirror with the outlet reporting that Dykes is now a priority after the Lions had held talks with Middlesbrough man Josh Coburn. The report also adds that 'negotiations over a club-record deal for the Londoners have taken place' with League One side Birmingham City also eyeing up a move for Dykes.
The striker was left out of the QPR squad to face Plymouth Argyle last weekend and head coach Marti Cifuentes appeared to hint that an exit from the club could be in the offing. When asked why Dykes wasn't selected, the Catalan boss replied: " "I just pick players based on availability. He wasn't available."

Cifuentes later added that he 'didn't know' if Dykes would be a QPR player when the window slams shut next week. The forward has already scored for the club this season, bagging in the 2-2 draw against Sheffield United, having finished the 2023/24 season as the team’s top scorer in all competition with nine goals.

He scored the only goal in a 1-0 win against Preston North End in April, a victory which secured Championship survival for QPR and was praised for his 'personality' and 'character' by Cifuentes after that match.
