QPR manager Marti Cifuentes admitted he was 'not very pleased' with how his side performed against Huddersfield Town in a Championship six-pointer at the foot of the table.

The meeting on Sunday afternoon was a cagey affair devoid of much real quality between the two clubs with two late goals ensuring the spoils were shared. A win at Loftus Road would have seen the Rs clamber out of the relegation zone above the Yorkshire outfit, but supporters will leave relieved to have salvaged something from the game after conceding late on.

QPR have shown signs of progress under Cifuentes in recent weeks with a win against Millwall last time out a major boost to the club's fight for survival. However, it was one step forward and two steps back according to the Spaniard on Sunday.

Speaking to Sky Sports after full-time, Cifuentes said: "I'm not very pleased about the performance, actually. It was not a great football game. A lot of free kicks and interruptions. Unfortunately, it wasn't our best performance. It's a bit disappointing.

"I'm very pleased with the effort of the guys until the end to get a goal which can be season-defining. It shows that, since I've been here, the guys have been competing really well. Even in a game like today, where we were far from a good performance to the standard that we want, we still compete to get a point."

Cifuentes went on to thank the QPR faithful when asked if the nerves in the stadium may have affected the emotion in the match. The manager labelled support as 'excellent' and a 'crucial' part of the battle facing his side.

Giving his verdict on whether his team can avoid relegation this season, Cifuentes said: "I think we need to just work game but game. We know the task we have ahead of us is a difficult challenge, I was very aware of that when I came here. We need to keep on pushing, improve performance and from there I'm sure we will keep competing well."
