The R’s face competition from Championship rivals to bring the player back to Loftus Road.

QPR have had hopes of bringing Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden back to Loftus Road this summer given a huge boost amid reports that the Premier League club are willing to let the 29-year-old head out on loan again for the 2024/25 season.

The midfielder enjoyed a successful stint with the R's over the second half of last season, which came as a relief following a disappointing spell at Standard Liege at the start of the campaign. Hayden then returned to St James' Park at the end of the season but had previously shared his hopes to return to West London.

Early reports from the North East suggested that Newcastle United would reach a mutual agreement with Hayden to terminate his current deal, which lasts until 2026. That would have given hope for a potential QPR free transfer.

However, it later emerged via The Northern Echo that Newcastle United had made Hayden 'available for transfer', determined to cash in on the star. As the window continues to tick on, The Telegraph reporter Mike McGrath now claims that the Magpies will listen to loan offers for the player again.

The journalist names West Brom, who face Marti Cifuentes' side on Saturday, as well as Hull City as the second tier clubs competing with QPR for the player. The R's have already bolstered their midfield this summer with the recent arrival of Jonathan Varane from Sporting de Gijon.

Speaking back in April, Hayden said: "Things move quickly in football and you move on. But it's a situation where myself and the club will have to sit down in the summer and discuss what they want to do. I had to take a pay cut to go to QPR, which I was happy to do for the last few months of the season, to get games. But it’ll be back to square one in the summer but hopefully I can help keep QPR up and would love to stay here if possible."
