'Deal done' - Forgotten QPR man once labelled 'big asset' by Gareth Ainsworth finds new club
The R’s defender lost his place in the starting XI earlier in the calendar year and was released from his QPR contract early.
Former QPR defender Reggie Cannon has completed a deal to sign for MLS side Colorado Rapids as a free agent following his release from QPR this summer.

That's according to GiveMeSport with the outlet reporting that the USA international has put pen to paper with the side ahead of the September 13 free agent deadline for clubs in the MLS. Cannon was confirmed to have been released from QPR on August 30 but that agreement is believed to have been reached earlier in the month.
Explaining the decision to release the player, who had signed a four-year contract at Loftus Road just 12 months prior, CEO Christian Nourry said: “I would like to thank Reggie for his efforts over the course of the last 11 months.
“He joined at a time when the football strategy was ultimately in a different direction and both parties felt, in the end, it made sense not to continue the adventure together. We wish him all the best for the future.”
Cannon made 21 Championship appearances for the R's last term but lost his place at right back in February as Jimmy Dunne emerged as the preferred choice for Marti Cifuentes. With the latter signing a contract extension over the summer and starting every game of the 2024/25 campaign so far, that set-up looks set to continue.
Deemed surplus to requirements, Cannon was released as somewhat of a forgotten man having been frozen out of the side despite arriving with much potential. The 26-year-old has 28 USA caps to his name and was hailed as a future star by Gareth Ainsworth when signing for QPR last year.

Speaking to the club website at the time, former R's boss Ainsworth said: “I am really, really pleased to get this over the line. We have fought off clubs to get him and I believe Reggie will become a big asset for us.
“He can play on the right side of midfield as a wing-back, he can play as a right-sided centre-back, so he is going to add real competition for places which is what we need."
