Stoke City chief sends injury update ahead of QPR clash as Leeds United transfer prediction made

All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding the Championship clubs.

Millwall and QPR will be working hard on the training ground with the players who have not jetted off on international duty. The Lions will be looking to keep up their good work, while the Hoops have plenty of work to do, currently bottom of the table.

We are now just a week away from the return of Championship football, and both teams are home upon their return, the Lions taking on Sunderland and the Hoops Stoke City. In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news surrounding the Championship clubs.

Esse scores for Three Lions

Romaine Esse has taken his Millwall form to the international level, scoring for the England Elite Squad (formerly the under-20s) as they thrashed Germany 4-0.

Esse has been in superb form for the Lions, and he is attracting real attention ahead of the winter transfer window, something that will only increase with his form for the Three Lions. Esse is still just 19 years of age.

Stoke injury update

Stoke City sporting chief Jon Walters has been speaking about the current injury situation at the Bet365 Stadium ahead of the Potters’ clash with QPR on the other side of the break.

“Enda (Stevens) and Ash (Ashley Phillios) are just little niggly things and nothing to be too concerned about,” said Walters, as detailed by Stoke-on-Trent Live. “Ben Pearson will be longer than the others, Lynden is looking really good and will hopefully be joining in sooner than the others. Bosun is out running and doing really well. He’s desperate to play and it’s been annoying. He’s desperate to be involved and he’s pushing himself. He’s doing well, not too far.

“Sam (Gallagher) has had no reaction and he’s pushing too. They’re both running, both fine, so it’s a case of how far we push them and how quickly to make sure that when they come back they don’t get injured.”

Solomon claim

Former Leeds United and Tottenham goalkeeper doesn’t think the Whites will send loanee Manor Solomon back to North London earlier than planned amid reports the loan deal could be terminated.

"It’s been really tough for him with injuries,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News. “He started really well and he’s a top-class player. It was a really good deal for Leeds to get him on loan because I expect other teams also wanted him. It was a real coup signing for Leeds, started really well and then got injured. It’s a long season in the Championship so I don’t think there will be any call for him to be sent back. He’s someone the manager will utilise.

"Ramazani has been injured, as has James, so Solomon is another option for him. With two games per week coming before the end of the season, with the injuries they’ve got, I don’t see Leeds replacing Solomon with someone of a similar quality. It’s just a case of getting him back to his best between now and the end of the season."
