Harris on new signings

Millwall boss Neil Harris has said the club will complete new signings before the end of the summer window.

“Things have changed with recruitment in football since I was here the last time. There are so many different layers to it today and my main role is head coach, he told the South London press. “There are lots of people in the background who perform different roles in the recruitment process.

“My part of that also involves letting the fans understand how it works, not just at this club but in football in general nowadays. Do I feel confident we are going to add to the group? The narrative is yes, we will be adding to the group.

“This football club wants to do business and I am saying we need players in. I don’t think it is a case of will we, I think it is a case of we have to. Obviously the sooner the better for me because I am beginning to sound like a broken record. I’ve been saying this since 5 May so the sooner the better. We have nine days left. I’m in the mindset now that we need to add seniority to the group by 30 August. If not it is obviously going to be a very difficult period for the players.”

Details of QPR deal emerge

The fee involved in QPR’s expected signing of Nicolas Madsen from Westerlo has now emerged, and it is a surprisingly big one. According to Sacha Tavolieri, the Hoops will pay just shy of £3.12million to land the 24-year-old midfielder.

There is also a percentage of future sale agreed, according to the report, with the contract spanning five years. The reporter says a ‘few details’ are still to be sorted out, but QPR are said to have beaten a number of clubs to the signing.

Hannibal ‘talks’

Leeds United are said to be pushing for a deal to sign Hannibal Mejbri as they look to plug gaps in their squad following a number of significant departures this summer. The Daily Mail have reported that the Whites are keen to add Hannibal to their midfield, though it’s unclear whether it will be a loan or permanent deal.

The report claims the midfielder is valued at around £7million, and Man Utd are said to want to include a mandatory option to buy in any loan deal. The 21-year-old made six league appearances for Sevilla after joining on loan for the second half of last season. He already has 27 senior caps for Tunisia.
