All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding the Championship clubs as Millwall and QPR continue their summer preparations.

The new Championship season is just weeks away, and preparations are now being ramped up with only one full weekend remaining before the new season gets underway. Clubs are running out of time as they continue to build fitness within their squads, and they are running out of time if they want to get new players in before the big kick off.

Clubs have until the end of August to wrap up deals, but there is a clear advantage to getting new players in ahead of the start of the season. Millwall and QPR have already made headway on that front with a number of new signings. With that in mind, we have rounded up all the latest news surrounding the second tier clubs.

Leeds braced for fresh bid

Brighton are said to be readying a new offer for Leeds United star Georginio Rutter after coming up short with a £30million offer earlier in the summer. Leeds are under no pressure to sell their key players after selling Archie Gray earlier in the summer, and they will want to make a significant profit on Rutter if they are to sell.

Football Insider report that the Seagulls remain interested, though they are going to have to offer Leeds a return on their £36million investment, which could be a stretch if Brighton also want to strengthen other areas this summer.

Wilder ‘ticks box’ with Burrows

Chris Wilder has been speaking about Sheffield United’s impressive capture of Peterborough United captain Harrison Burrows. He told club media: “When we signed Kieffer (Moore) I spoke about persistence and patience from all parties in getting the deal done, and exactly the same can be said for Harrison's move to Bramall Lane.

“Harrison's performances over the last couple of seasons have made him a wanted man, and I think it's a real tick in the box for us, as a club, that he has decided his future is best served by coming here. His desire to come and play here has been underlined by his ability to keep a calm head and be patient in order for everything to come together.

"I'm sure there would have been times when he could have gone elsewhere, there will have been no shortage of interest, but he's waited, and we're delighted to get this one over the line. For me, it speaks volumes for what he thinks of this football club, that he's been happy to sit tight in order for it to all go through.

"One of his many key attributes is his versatility. His arrival will give us options in a number of positions which can only be a benefit over the course of a competitive Championship campaign. He's another young lad who has the ability to improve on what has been an excellent start to his professional career, and we, as a staff, are really excited to be working with him."

Harris on Murcia win

Neil Harris has been speaking about the important factors from Millwall’s 2-1 win over Real Murcia on Friday. He said: “Results are irrelevant to a certain degree in pre-season, I’ve said that after every game. I said it after the Forest game because the result isn’t the be-all and end-all.

“It’s fine for the fans to see the team win but from my perspective it’s about getting the minutes in the legs and seeing areas that we need to improve or areas we’ve improved on as a group over the course of pre-season.

“Positives were a lot of players come through extended minutes. A couple of the boys came through 90 minutes which is really good for us. But the negatives is that we might have picked up a couple of injuries along the way and that’s the downside of pre-season games.”
