Neil Harris has offered an update on Millwall’s two fresh injury blows after Saturday’s defeat.

Millwall were hit by two big injury blows during their narrow defeat to Luton Town on Saturday. Teden Mengi’s goal in the 10th minute settled the very even clash at The Den, leaving Neil Harris’ men remaining on one win for the season.

It was always going to be a tricky clash for the Lions, facing a strong Luton side that was playing Premier League football last season. Though, their task was made no easier by the fact Josh Coburn was forced off through injury in the first half having scored last time out, while Jake Cooper also withdrew through injury, coming off after half-time.

“To lose your big man after 20 minutes is tough. It’s a real frustration for us that and we hope we see him back soon,” Millwall boss Harris lamented, as detailed by the South London Press. “Him and Jake look like calf [injuries]. Until we let them settle down over the next 24-48 hours we don’t know. But [they’re] two very key players for us.”

Millwall are still waiting for new record signing Mihailo Ivanovic to return from an injury having arrived at the club with a existing issues. The need for Ivanovic could be greater should Coburn be set for a spell on the sidelines. Asked if Ivanovic will be back ahead of the next international break, Harris added: “No, no, before that! He’s recovering from a small hamstring string and he’s got a broken fifth metatarsal, so we know we have to be really careful with it.

“But we’re looking at an outside chance for Saturday [vs QPR] to be involved, but he has to tick certain boxes first. We have to make sure we don’t push him too soon and he’s then going to be ruled out for eight, 10, 12 weeks. Nobody wants him on the pitch quicker than I do! So I’ll certainly be pushing people in the building, but also I understand – and we have to be really respectful – this is a young lad here for the long-term.“But ultimately, if Josh isn’t going to be available, then we need him in the short-term as well.”
