Millwall lose a gem

Millwall have lost defender Josh Stephenson from their academy, with the highly rated youngster agreeing to join Brentford. The 18-year-old was the academy’s player of the year last term and he was offered professional terms by Millwall.

Brentford also offered terms, though. and Stephenson has taken them up on their offer, agreeing to form part of their B team. Stephenson has penned a four year deal with the option of a further year. There is no fee agreement, so a tribunal will decide on the fee owed by the Bees to Millwall.

Smyth on Cardiff

QPR star Paul Smyth has dubbed Wednesday night’s clash with Cardiff City in South Wales as ‘massive’. “This is a massive game for us,” Smyth has said.

“We have to approach every game as a cup final and give it everything we have as a team. If we keep pushing and keep fighting, we will convert those chances into goals and start moving up the table. We have to focus on us, do what we do. I am really looking forward to it.”
