Millwall star reveals 'close' AC Milan transfer as Leeds United man 'up for grabs' in January
The Championship season is now on hold again due to the international break, offering a chance for clubs to put in some work on the training ground without having to deal with games. While it’s typically a more boring period for fans, it can be vital for some teams to get things right, and that will certainly be the case for QPR, who have endured a poor start to the campaign.
The Hoops are currently in the bottom three, and while Millwall have been better than their London rivals, they are still only in 18th spot as things stand. As both teams look to improve, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding the Championship clubs.

Millwall defender has been speaking about how he almost joined Italian giants AC Milan before seeing his stock fall significantly with less opportunities at Tottenham. Speaking to Gianluca Di Marzio, he said: “In 2022 I was close to Milan and I would like Serie A in the future. But here I have found continuity and now I am a protagonist.”
He added: “I returned to Millwall in the summer – after six months on loan to feel like a protagonist. The fans are incredible, their love was a decisive factor in my choice. They sing with all their voices: it is one of the most beautiful atmospheres in England.”
Leeds departure mooted
Leeds United striker Joe Gelhardt will be ‘up for grabs’ in the January transfer window, according to reporter Graeme Bailey, who told Leeds United News: “Yeah I definitely think he is going to be up for grabs. When you are at a club the size of Leeds, it’s a bit similar to the Man United situation, it’s not always easy to move players on because they feel they can do something and things to offer.
“Gelhardt is still pretty young, I think maybe a loan for him because he’s still got a lot of time on his deal. I think he will go, but a loan more likely at this point.”

Hide AdCleverley on Watford start
Watford boss Tom Cleverley has been speaking about his side’s strong start, with the Hornets currently in sixth place. “I love aggressive, high-energy, high-pressing football, but one thing I have learned is you have to respect some teams more than others,” he told the Watford Observer.
“I’ve also learned to respect the fact you can be in control without having the ball at times. That has been what I have learned as a coach so far: you can’t be all high-risk, high-press football all the time. You have to be able to control the game even when you’re out of possession. But generally I want to be putting teams under pressure whenever I can, and those first three league games I felt we did that.
“And I think we’ve been entertaining so far, scoring a lot of goals and creating a lot of chances. What we addressed from the end of last season was that although we got tight at the back, we weren’t the most entertaining team to watch. Now we’ve changed that, but my job is all about balance and I can’t sacrifice not being tight to be an entertaining team, so I’ve got to find that sweet spot.”
