It was a Boxing Day to forget for the two London Championship clubs, with both Millwall and QPR suffering defeats on the road. Millwall fell short at Norwich City, while QPR were thumped at Swansea, quickly falling into a hole too deep to escape from in South Wales.

Attention now turns to Sunday, with the Lions taking on Coventry City away from home, while QPR take on Norwich away. Here we round up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding the second tier.

Millwall manager update

Millwall interim boss David Livermore says he will remain in charge for now, with the Lions continuing to be tipped to appoint former Norwich boss Alex Neil.

“I know that I’ll be taking the game on Sunday against Coventry,” Livermore said. “I know that behind the scenes things are moving probably as quick as they can. Obviously we’ve had Christmas Eve, Christmas and Boxing Day so I do know there’s progress off the pitch but I also do know that I’ll be taking the game on Sunday.”

Morrison injury blow

QPR skipper Liam Morrison is set for a long spell on the sidelines, with Marti Cifuentes confirming: “It’s very difficult when we’ve lost our captain. The other right-sided centre-half that we had, Liam Morrison, was playing at an excellent level, and also has an injury.

“It’s very difficult, especially in the back line where, as a coach, you try to build some stability and where relationships are so important. For a period we didn’t have any left-sided centre-backs, with Morgan Fox and Jake Clarke-Salter unavailable, and now it’s the opposite (side). We were testing Liam Morrison up until this morning and unfortunately it’s a muscular injury that will keep him out for some weeks.”

Farke on Tanaka decision

Daniel Farke explained why Ao Tanaka was rested for Leeds United’s away win over Stoke City. he said: “For Ao Tanaka, he was, and is and will be, a key player for us. I think he's done outstanding for us in the recent weeks. But we must not forget we are right now in a period with eight games within 29 days. Right now we're heading into a period with four games within 10 days.

"For Ao it's the first season in English football, it's the first time that he has to play during Christmas. Normally he's just on the sofa," Farke quipped, indirectly referencing the winter break in Germany's domestic footballing calendar. He has played in this busy period so far each and every second. You always want to have him on the pitch, but you need to give him, sometimes also rest. And then the decision was to do it today, because the feeling was a bit like from the tactical point of view it suits a bit to this game.”
