Fulham are sweating on two key injury concerns ahead of Tuesday night’s Premier League action.

Fulham are sweating on the fitness of two players ahead of clashes with Wolves and Manchester United. The Cottagers are back in Premier League actions as soon as Tuesday night, facing Wolves away from home as they look to get back to winning ways.

Marco Silva’s men were defeated by London rivals Crystal Palace last time out, and they need to get back into good form if they want to remain in the thick of the European race, keeping in mind eighth could be enough for a Conference League spot this season.

Silva has been dealing with injury issues of late, with attackers Reiss Nelson and Harry Wilson among those sidelined, and there are two fresh doubts in the form of Tom Cairney and Emile Smith Rowe.

Speaking on Monday, Silva confirmed that both players could be in contention, but the situation remains unclear. “We’re going to have another training session today and we’re going to assess the players when they start to arrive at the training ground,” Silva told West London Sport.

“After that, we have to take important decisions for the game tomorrow and right now it’s difficult to say who will be ready. The game is really close, so let’s see if they can be ready.”

Speaking about Cairney specifically, with the midfielder having struggled with injury this season, Silva added: “It’s not a really serious type of injury. It’s something you can be quickly over or can take one or two more days, let’s see.”

Fulham fans will want to see both players return to face Wolves, but if they can’t, attention will turn to Sunday’s FA Cup fifth round clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford. The Cottagers have an opportunity to reach the quarter-finals and to move within one game of Wembley, and they will believe they can pull it off given United’s poor form overall this season.
