'Here we go': Man Utd £83m star to leave club ahead of Fulham and Crystal Palace clashes

Fulham and Crystal Palace face Manchester United in the next two rounds of Premier League action with the transfer window still open.

Manchester United forward Antony is poised to join La Liga side Real Betis on loan this month with a deal between the two sides struck ahead of the Red Devils' upcoming Premier League meetings with Fulham and Crystal Palace.

The Cottagers host Rubem Amorim's out-of-sorts side on Sunday evening before the Eagles make the trip to Old Trafford on February 2. Manchester United are involved in Europa League action between those next two top flight fixtures.

Antony has featured in the United matchday squad in recent weeks, playing six minutes from the bench in the 3-1 defeat at home to Brighton on Sunday. However, the Brazilian hasn't started a Premier League game all season, being afforded just 135 minutes across eight outings.

Antony set for Real Betis loan

The 24-year-old, who cost the Red Devils a blockbuster £86 million in 2022, won't see any more action against Fulham and Crystal Palace either. The winger is poised to sign for Real Betis as he is deemed surplus to requirements when playing Amorim's 3-4-3 system.

Taking to social media platform X on Monday, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano provided an update on the move. He wrote: “Antony to Real Betis, here we go! Verbal agreement in place between all parties with Man United too.

“Documents being checked; then time for travel and medical tests. United will let him leave on loan deal with no buy clause. He’ll be formally back to United in June.”

Antony has faced Fulham three times since arriving at Manchester United. He played in both matches against the London outfit last season, which Fulham lost at Craven Cottage but won at Old Trafford, as well as in the 2023 FA Cup quarter-final victory for United.

The player has also faced Crystal Palace three times, all coming in the Premier League. Manchester United won both of those matches during the 2022/23 campaign.

He played 60 minutes in the 4-0 defeat to Oliver Glasner's side towards the end of last season and was slammed for an 'absolutely awful' showing in that match by Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher. The Liverpool legend said: "Just get off the pitch! Whispering behind your hand, you’ve been absolutely awful.

"He’s probably talking about one of the players or somebody else, or the set-up, or the manager, just get off the pitch. Shut up and get in. You’ve been beaten 4-0, whispering, talking - honestly, embarrassing."

Ruben Amorim labels Man Utd side ‘worst in history’

Fulham and Crystal Palace will take on a Manchester United side that has won just one of its last six top flight outings. After defeat to Brighton at the weekend, Amorim did not hold back with criticism for the squad at his disposal.

He said: "In 10 games in the Premier League, we won two. Imagine what this is for a fan of Manchester United. Imagine what this is for me. So we are getting a new coach that is losing more than the last coach. I have full knowledge of that.

"Like I said, I'm not going to change, no matter what. I know we can succeed, but we need to survive this moment. Because I'm not naive and I know that we need to survive now.

"We are being the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United. I know that you want headlines, but I'm saying that because we have to acknowledge that and to change that. Here you go, your headlines."
