Speaking to Sky Sports News’ Ref Watch, former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher has said Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic was ‘lucky’ not to have been sent off over the weekend.

The striker clashed with midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White in the second-half as the Cottagers drew 0-0 away at Wolves.

Mitrovic missed a golden chance to score the winner from the penalty spot but saw his effort from 12 yards saved by Jose Sa.

He then fouled Gibbs-White before clashing with him in the middle of the pitch, picking up just a yellow card in the process.

‘Got lucky there’....

However, ex-referee Gallagher believes it maybe should have been more for the Fulham ace:

“Yeah I think he has got lucky there. He has got lucky because of the Wolves player (Gibbs-White) because if it left to the referee, it is quiet easy.

“But because the Wolves player has got involved the referee has had to deal with both of them.”

He added:

“He comes to the conclusion that both have showed an aggressive attitude to each other and so it is a yellow card for both.

“I think at that point he lost focus on the original foul, which I think was a yellow card so he could have gone with two yellows.

What next for Fulham?

Despite being disappointed that they missed the chance to win at Molinuex, it hasn’t been a bad start to the season for Fulham.

The London club drew with Liverpool on the opening day and their point over the weekend means they are still unbeaten.

Next up for Marco Silva’s men is a home clash against Brentford this weekend, followed by a Carabao Cup clash against Crawley Town away.
