Fulham vs Newcastle United early injury news as 5 ruled out and 1 doubt

All the latest injury news surrounding Fulham and Newcastle United ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash.

Fulham are now preparing for a tough-looking home clash with Newcastle United as they look to build on a respectable start to the campaign. The Cottagers have picked up five points from their first four games, losing only once, although they did bow out of the Carabao Cup after a penalty shootout with Preston North End on Tuesday night.

Marco Silva’s men will face a big test against a Newcastle side that has started particularly well, currently third having picked up 10 points from a possible 12. Here we round up all the latest injury news surrounding both clubs as the Craven Cottage clash approaches.

Sven Botman - Out

Botman is out until at least December and likely January with a knee injury. Eddie Howe has said of the centre-back and Jamaal Lascelles, who faces a similar timeline to Botman: “Both players have shown a great attitude to their injuries. Long road ahead for both of them. They're sort of in the middle of that time now.

“Both seem a lot more positive and I think it's natural when you first have the injury. You sort of have the operation, and you're in the early stages, you can't do a lot, there's a feeling of frustration. I've been there as an athlete, it's a difficult moment. But when you start to do more and you get the heartbeat going and you get the physical work started, you feel so much better about yourself.

"They're currently in slightly different stages, I'd say Sven's probably a little bit ahead of Jamaal just in terms of their rehabs, but both players committed to their work and doing great."

Jamaal Lascelles - Out

The same as above with Lascelles also out with a knee injury.

Lewis Miley - Out

Miley is recovering from a back injury. Howe has suggested he is getting closer, though, saying: “He’s doing well, he’s back on the grass, it is great to see him with his boots on. The first time was last week. He’s on track I’d say for the three months he was given initially, I don’t see any big change from that.”

Callum Wilson - Out

Wilson has a back injury with Howe saying ahead of last week’s game: “He [Wilson] hasn’t had a setback but he’s a little bit behind where we wanted him to be. We envisaged that he might be training at this moment in preparation for the game but he’s probably a little bit behind.”

Alexander Isak - Doubt

Howe said after Newcastle’s last Premier League outing: “It was his eye, but I'm not 100 per cent sure what the issue was. I just knew he had to come off. We'll find out more afterwards. I don't know whether it's serious or not, but we absolutely hope not. He's such an important player for us.” It’s unclear whether Isak will be fit for this weekend.

Carlos Vinicius - Out

Vinicius remains out with a calf injury. Silva said last week: “He has a small injury, a problem in his calf. It's going to be soon probably, more eight days, ten days, he's going to be ready to train with the team.”
