Fulham manager Marco Silva has labelled. Tuesday night's meeting with Everton at Craven Cottage is a 'crucial' fixture for his side after a tricky week on the banks of the Thames.

The Cottagers put in a brave performance against in-form Liverpool last week but were ultimately knocked out of the Carabao Cup by the Reds with a final at Wembley Stadium in sight. More cup heartbreak followed on Saturday as Newcastle United emerged 2-0 FA Cup victors.

It's back to league action for Fulham, who look for only their second Premier League victory in six against strugglers Everton, who are winless in the league in four.

Writing in the matchday programme, Silva said: "This evening we have the opportunity for crucial points, and we want to make sure that we can provide a good account, both at home and on our travels, during the second half of the season between now and May.

"We have played Everton twice already this season, on the opening day where we recorded a 1-0 victory, and in the Carabao Cup quarter-final where we were able to progress on penalties.

"Both matches were tough encounters, and we are expecting the same this evening from a side who provided a great reaction on the pitch and are fighting hard following a recent points deduction. We know what to expect from our opponent today, in the same way Everton will know what to expect from our team."
