Fulham vs Liverpool reaction: Pundit agrees with Marco Silva as 'deserved' claim made
Fulham picked up a huge win over Liverpool on Sunday to end the Reds’ long-running unbeaten streak away from home.
Fulham picked up a huge win on Sunday to give their European qualification hopes a big boost. The Cottagers defeated soon-to-be Premier League champions Liverpool 3-2, rallying back from one down and then holding on after the Reds got one back.

Ryan Sessegnon, Alex Iwobi and Rodrigo Muniz all scored inside the first-half for the Cottagers, who went on to secure a memorable home win, moving up to eighth in the table, just two points behind Newcastle United, but keeping in mind that eighth spot could well be enough for Conference League qualification, with the Premier League likely to get an extra Champions League spot this season.
Speaking after the game to Sky Sports, Fulham boss Marco Silva said: “It’s a great win for us. Our first half was very, very good, in all aspects of the game. It was a great goal from Mac Allister - we have to be stronger in that moment to start to be clever and make some tactical fouls.
"But the reaction was great. All the energy I asked for before the match, it was high-energy, high-tempo and to be honest our pressure was very good. Their two centre-backs were under pressure most of the time."
Silva added: "They had one or two good chances to equalise after their goal, we had a very good one with Harrison Reed too. At 3-2 they put us more under pressure, but until that we were the better team by far on the pitch. We deserved the three points against a team who, we know, haven't lost an away game all season.
"After the last nine days, with three big games for us, in the first two we didn't get what we wanted and this afternoon was a big one for us against the team who are probably going to be champions. It was important to give our fans something back, they have been at a top, top level in recent games.
"I can't rate this higher than some of the other big results we've had. Maybe it looks a bit bigger because Liverpool haven't lost an away game, and we know what will happen with them this season. It has been a great season for this club but in some important moments we haven't been at our best overall, like last Saturday [against Crystal Palace].
"It was a great reaction. To be losing after two defeats is tough, but to then react and score three goals in the first 45 minutes - and show the resilience in the second half, what a way to bounce back."
Pundit praise
Speaking to BBC Sport, pundit Clinton Morrison said: “For their first half performance Fulham deserve it. They were the better team in the first 45 minutes and Liverpool weren't at the races. In the second half Liverpool were the better team but Fulham defended brilliantly. Calvin Bassey was the best player on the pitch keeping Mo Salah, the best player in the Premier League this season, quiet.
“The result gives Fulham a real European chance now. You can't start games like Liverpool did today, to be 3-1 down and expect to come back. We know they have great attacking players but respect and credit to Fulham who made it very difficult.”
